July 13, 2005 on 9:56 pm | In Site related | Post a Comment (25 entries)I posted it on HA already, but forgot to mention it here. :) I have uploaded a new beta of Burrrn that adds support for embedded cuesheets in Monkey’s Audio (ape), WavPack (wv) and FLAC (flac) files. Get it here.

Last time I checked, I was still singular. ;)

Thx Gambit for a new beta to play with.
Any chance of adding gapfree burns to Burrrn?
With so many compilation albums out with crossfading tracks, it would be sweet to be able to convert/burn & have a seamless results.
All bests!

Erm, Burrrn always burns gapless. Unless you are burning from a cue sheet that specifies gaps.
Comment by Gambit — July 15, 2005 #
With some external CUE sheets I get this message:
Finished processing file #1.Finished processing file #2.
Finished processing file #3.
Finished processing file #4.
ERROR: Cannot open audio file "C:/temp/burrrn_temp/01_Purcell - Te Deum, Jubilate Deo (Deller).wav": No such file or directory
ERROR: C:\TOOLS\Burrn\burrrn.toc:20: Cannot determine length of track data specification.
ERROR: C:\TOOLS\Burrn\burrrn.toc:21: START 00:03:66 behind or at track end.
Looks as though Burrrn didn’t generate the WAV file (from APE, in this instance).
Big thanks and congratulation to the new website – love the clear layout :)

Can you please send me the cue?

IIRC it does work ‘sometimes’, like after a fresh install/new version of burrrn.

I’m doing simple drag & drop of tracks onto Burrrn, and am hearing gaps between tracks on playback of the CDR. Using Burnatonce with gapless enabled, I don’t (BAO is using same burning engine, IIRC)I much prefer Burrrn due to ability of converting many more formats & has MUCH easier GUI & use function.
So what am I doing wrong not to get gapless burns?

christoofar: Can you please send me one of those files?

Gambit
All apologies – I just now burned a disc using the method I described above, and…it plays fine w/ no gaps. : -/
I DO NOT know what the heck is different, but in the past I have been hearing short gaps between tracks that should have blended together. Perhaps it was the player, but at any rate, Burrrn is working as advertised. Many thanks!!!!!!!!

christoofar: I’m glad it worked out. And thanks for the donation. ;)

It’s “my shame” money!! lmao
Thanks for a brill app

Gambit,
First of all thanks for Burrrn! I was wondering if and possibly when Burrrn will support burning with corrected offset?
Comment by Michael — July 18, 2005 #
Thanks for your porgram!!!
and…
Tying to burrrn a compilation (different artists) i ‘ can’t get the cd-text to work. I can see the artist for the first track in the main field. I tried to burrn but the cd-text does not work.
Is it just me or it’s in the program?
/bye

Hai Gambit…
Ansonsten klasse Prog…

Everything is a question of time. There are many things I want to work on, and Burrrn is just one of them. But offset corrected writing is on my todo for the 1.14 final.
Comment by Gambit — July 21, 2005 #
Bertil-
check your id3 tags for the mp3 tracks you wish to burn (assuming you’re using mp3s as your source)
Perhaps they need fixing first? It seems like Burrrn used id tag info to read text from?
Comment by christoofar — July 22, 2005 #
replaygain vs wavgain?
Gambit, any chance of using wavgain in Burrrn?
This would allow gain adjustment of raw wav files, since replaygain can’t work on wavs.
Yeah, I know…maybe in 1.15 final? =)
Comment by christoofar — July 22, 2005 #
christoofar: Whaaaaat? You’re not making sense. Burrrn decodes the files to wav and then applies WavGain. So it works with all formats.
Comment by Gambit — July 22, 2005 #
yes to the above, *except* when you are using wav files as the source files. So if I have ripped some
CDs to wav files & want to burn a compilation CD with track from different artists, and level the gain for the burn, I can’t using replaygain, since it even says in the balloon tips, “of course it won’t work when using wav files”.
Am I making sense now? =)
This is NOT a major shortcoming, just wondering if there is a way to burn wav files to CD-R via Burrrn, using wavgain.
Comment by christoofar — July 23, 2005 #
“of course it won’t work when using wav files†refers to using RG from the decoding commandline for the formats that support it. And since you don’t decode Wav you obviously can’t apply RG at the decoding stage.
But RG with Wav files works of course. The files are copied to the temp folder and WavGain is applied and then they are burned.

christoofar-
I’m using flac. And the tags are correct. So???
Comment by Bertil — July 24, 2005 #
Bertil-
then not sure why CD-text isn’t working for you.
Perhaps Gambit has an idear..?
I have burned .ape & flac files before using Burrn, and if they are missing tags, I just fire up Tag & Rename, add the files, go to Tools & get tag info written to them, then reload them into Burrrn, & all is well.
Gambit- OK, I guess I misunderstood what that meant. You are right of course, just now tried it & it works. This is great, since I’m putting together many comp CDs to take with me on holiday in a few weeks!
Thanks for your help & patience!

Just wanted to report that my problem burrrning CUE sheets with Ape files was due to a corrupt decoder. I replaced
MAC.exeand it worked. Sorry!Comment by Adagio — July 30, 2005 #
